Affordable Cosmetic Dentistry Options

Looking for a smile makeover on a budget? It could be closer than you think! At Eastport Dental in Mesa, Dr. Vinh Huynh works one-on-one with each patient to help them achieve the smile they’re looking for at the right price.

Here are some of the ways we make smile transformations affordable for our patients working on a tighter budget…

Start with Teeth Whitening

Having a bright, blank canvas is a great way to quickly improve your smile’s appearance. Professional teeth whitening erases deep stains and natural tooth discoloration, even if you’ve had it for years. Our Mesa dentist can discuss which type of whitening will work best for your scenario — be it an in-house/same-day procedure or fitting you with custom whitening trays — so that you’ll see the results you’re looking for.  Both options provide bright results and stronger whitening than over-the-counter products. But one only takes a day, while the other is something you use at home for about a week or two.

Bonus: take home whitening systems make it easy to touch-up as needed. That way you can top off your smile after every checkup. Just pick up a refill tube of gel from our office when you run out.

Whitening is usually recommended before starting any type of cosmetic dentistry plan. That way if you’re updating restorations, your dental work will match the brighter teeth next to them.  Why? Because materials like porcelain or ceramic can’t be bleached out to look whiter later on. It’s important to start out with them at a lighter color rather than darker tone. Bleaching your teeth first will prevent you from wishing you had gone back and whitened your smile while you still had the chance.

Consider Bonding Problem Areas

Tooth colored materials like resin or composite can be “bonded” over specific problem areas to cover them up. When you have a chipped tooth, small gap between teeth, or an uneven area of enamel, that single flaw can detract from your entire smile. With bonding, it’s easy to cover the irregularity and make it look like your tooth is whole again. That way your overall smile benefits too.

Bonding uses the same type of white filling material that’s used for treating cavities. Since it comes in a variety of shades and hues, Dr. Huynh can select one that blends in with your surrounding enamel. After placement, you shouldn’t be able to see where the bonding stops and your tooth starts. Dr. Huynh shapes the entire area by hand, so that it looks as natural as possible. Once it looks right, we’ll use a special light to cure it in place. The process takes about a half hour to complete!   (Plus – numbing usually isn’t even necessary.)

Is Recontouring Needed?

Sometimes teeth can be slightly uneven, giving your smile an atypical shape that detracts from the “symmetry” we look for in a beautiful smile. When that’s the case, the quickest solution could be simply to smooth that area out, so that it blends in with the contour of the teeth around it. Dental recontouring is minimally invasive and extremely affordable. You can see the results in just a matter of minutes and numbing usually isn’t required (depending on the size of the area being adjusted.)

In many cases, Dr. Huynh combines recontouring with bonding for the best results and an ideal tooth shape.

Financing Options for Bigger Needs

Perhaps the best path to your dream smile is getting same-day ceramic crowns or investing in dazzling porcelain veneers. If that’s the case, you may be looking for a way to supplement what is (or isn’t) covered by your dental insurance. In that case, our treatment coordinators can arrange for flexible financing options, so that you can fit a low monthly payment into your budget. That way you can start on your smile makeover sooner, rather than later!

As part of your treatment planning process, we’ll outline your options and recommended procedures, including the costs involved and number of appointments necessary. When we do, you can see what everything will cost — and how long it will take to complete — before committing to anything. Once you have all of the information at hand, you can help to curate the plan to fit your priorities, budget, and timeline.
